Day 4 -School & Lodge

First day back at school – well for me as Chaplain – the children went back yesterday.  Slight disruption as a new entrance and school office is in the process of being built so the ladies from then office have had to construct a temporary home in the corridor! The main downside was I couldn’t make myself a cuppa because it was too long a walk around to the staff room because of the building work – will take a flask with me next week.

It took me hour and half to walk around 8 classes (Reception don’t start until the 15th) saying ‘hello’ to the teachers and the teachers assistants. I didn’t even manage to get over to the Seagulls Nursery - will have to re-think this!! Now that I’m into my 3rd year – folk are a lot more receptive and this morning appeared to be quite genuinely pleased to see me.  Lots of cuddles - even from the Head Teacher!!,

This evening it was also 1st week back at Thames View Lodge, which is a residential housing complex – leading the service entitled ‘You’ve got a friend in me’.  There were 25 residents this evening some of my regulars were either in hospital, on holiday or had just returned from holiday so, hopefully, in a few weeks time we will be back up to full numbers.

Finished the day with a ‘take-away’ of steam rice and chilli beef – yum yum yum.
