Coffee and chat - Christ Church

Coffee and Chat this morning at Christ Church from 10 -12mid-day.  The purpose of the morning is just for folk to pop in and have a cuppa and chat; sometimes we have a quiz, word search and on one occasion Revd David did a cookery demonstration.

Attendance wise 5 - 15 people may pop in but I'm not really interested in the numbers more the conversations that are held. This morning we chatted through bereavement, moving from your home into sheltered housing and 'when' is the right time, break-ins that have occured in the neighbourhood and advising each other on safety and precautions and, maybe, one Saturday organizing a fish n' chip meal for lunch.

After the Coffee and Chat I helped Revd David set the church up for a wedding in the afternoon.  The ladies who normally do this are all 'engaged' this weekend, one is away visiting her daughter, another is celebrating her Golden Wedding anniversary and the third is looking after her grandson but between us, plus the ladies who were on the cleaning rota, we had the place looking fit for a bride and groom.

I must admit by the time I got home - because I had gone down extra early to put the heating on - I was tired so grabbed 40 winks this afternoon in readiness to watch Strictly Come Dancing this evening.

Nigel & I are now in the office - Nigel is putting the finishing touches to his meeting (church service) for tomorrow and I'm working on my assignment.  Karl has gone to visit friends so we shall have a peaceful weekend.
