Adult and Families Ministries

I attended the Adult & Family Ministries Retreat today at Hadleigh Salvation Army    Our guest speaker was Major Jenine Main, who is the Corps Officer of Upper Norwood, and Jenine's theme for the day 'Time for Coffee'.  Jenine was basically saying that Jesus met people where they were, he didn't expect them always to come to him.  In the past we have always invited people to our places of worship by saying 'Come...'  Jenine suggested that we are now in an era where we need to 'Go...' to where people are in their comfort zones and speak to them there.

I sat with the Home Leagues ladies from Grays and as I have visited Grays HL quite a few times over the years - it was a wonderful opportunity to chat more freely and openly with the ladies.  Here is a picture of them enjoying their cuppa and cake.

We came away with two gift wrapped mugs containing sachets of coffee, tea, drinking chocolate and a 'Time Out' chocolate bar - with the invitation to invite someone around for coffee/tea and giving them one of the mugs and in the course of the conversation to share what our faith means to us. SO beware if you suddenly get an invite for coffee or in my case tea!! :)

During the lunch break I took the opportunity to visit Hadleigh Parish church, St. James the Less, beause I knew that there were some SA grave stones there - apart from which I love visiting old churches and graveyards!!!  Disappointingly the church was closed but I managed to find two gravestones...
