To the garden and beyond

I have great admiration for people who plant acorns knowing that they will never see the Oak Tree in its full glory, but have the vision to picture people many hundreds of years later sitting under its spreading branches.  I suppose in many ways gardening at this time of year is also a bit like that - pruning, planting bulbs, turning the soil over, removing dead plants and branches knowing that in the spring/summer next year there will be a glorious array of colour.

Nigel & I had booked today to try and clear and tidy up the garden as much as possible ready for winter to set in. In between the showers we pruned, pulled, planted, mowed the lawn, swept the paths and patio and put away the garden furniture. Although the garden is mostly bare there is that sense of anticipation waiting for the spring to arrive.
