Five years ago, in a previous Salvation Army church with the help a lady called Dot, I commenced a group called 'Heart 2 Heart'. The group came into being because I had noticed during my visition that many of my parishioners were still mourning the loss of a loved one and there wasn't a safe environment where they could express their feelings of anger, hurt, shock, betrayal without being judged. The 1st group commenced and 7 people turned up - five years later around 30 people attend every month and after sharing their thoughts, helping and listening to each - they also have a time of fun and Oh boy does the laughter bounce off the walls. I am no longer at that particular Salvation Army but I visit every year and the last time I went I received this gorgeous candle with a thoughtful card. If you know a widow or a widower - anyone who has been bereaved even if the bereavement happened many years ago - give that person a hug it could well be the 1st one they have received for a long time..
