Sunday Scribbling - Invitation

Hi - I'm the new girl on the block as this is my 1st Sunday Scribblings entry.

Invitation is an interesting word and conjures up pictures of grand celebrations, parties, weddings, christenings and I must admit I did try to think of some of these grand occasion to share with you.. and 'Yes' there have been a few plus invitations I look forward to - for example 'one day' maybe my son's wedding!!.

The word invitation means to 'request courteously' either to attend an event or something that has been agreed upon.  As a Salvation Army Officer (minister) I have received numerous invitations over the years but my most treasured, honoured and sad is yet to take place.

One of my parishioners, from a previous location, has invited me to conduct her funeral service and asked my permssion, if I agreed, to have me named in her Will to do so.  Of course I agreed.  It's a priviledge to be invited into someone's home at the time of loss, to be invited to grieve with a family, to be invited and trusted to lead a service remembering that individual.

Well, to me, that is the best invitation I have ever received because it will be an honour but one I hope I will not have to do for a good few years yet.

ps: I was with Dot last week, she is now 78 and is still going strong!!

take care and I hope you all have a blessed Sunday and for further Sunday Contributions click www.sundayscribblings.blogspot.com
