Day out - London Eye and beyond

What a day! Nigel and I decided that it was about time we put our Tesco coupons to good use and get our ‘annual pass’ for the some of the London attractions.  So off we trundled to the London Eye to get our pass only to be told that the machine wasn’t working!! however, the very kind lady gave us free passes and suggested that after being on the Eye we went to Madame Tussauds whose machine was working.

The weather was miserable but the capsule was comfortable and not too full – so we were able to wander around it and gaze out onto the sights of the London.

From there we caught the bus and made our way to Baker Street and to Madame Tussauds, where we got our annual passes.  I’ve never been to Madame Tussauds before but I can recommend it?  It was great fun.  So many celebrities to pose next to!! Followed by the dungeons of horror then on to a taxi ride explaining the history of London followed by a James Bond room.

Oh I do admire Audrey Hepburn and love the song 'Moonriver', which was playing as Nigel took my photo with Audrey - only wished the tea was real!!

By now we were gasping and extremely hungry so decided to catch another bus and made our way to Brick Lane or otherwise known as Banglatown where we enjoyed a truly scrumptious curry.

Another bus and train ride took us back to the Embankment and another ride on the London Eye – this time at night and was it breath-taking. By now it was just drizzling and we had a wonderful view of London and beyond at night.

It suddenly struck us that we were quite grown up now and didn’t have to rush home for anyone!! So we walked over to Westminster Abbey and to the Garden of Remembrance.  Although it was getting dark the rows of crosses in Remembrance of those who gave their lives for our freedom was quite a heart stopper.

Another bus to Liverpool St. Station and we relaxed in a restaurant enjoying a cuppa and croissants.

Then it was time to go home…
