Day 30 - Grays Home League & House Group

Tuesday

Travelling to Grays to lead the Home League was rather scary as the heavens just opened and my poor little windscreen wipers were going flat out to cope with the downpour; the lorries zooming past didn't help either kicking up a spray and alot of the time I couldn't see what was in front me.  However, I arrived safely and by the time I turned off the A13 to head towards Grays the rain had turned into a drizzle and the autumn colours of the trees proved to be a splendid sight.

Like Basildon yesterday, I have been coming to lead meetings at Grays since I was 18 (quite a few years ago) but the Home League only in the last four years - so I feel as though I'm coming 'home' simply because over the years I've got to know the ladies.  We had a fun afternoon and it was lovely to see them all on top form and willing to enter into the spirit of the afternoon.

In the evening I lead a time of prayer and meditation within Elsie's home who lives on the Thames View estate, Barking. It was for me a wonderful opportunity to share with the ladies present - Syliva, Barbara, Jean, Barbara & Elsie - who meet faithfully every week for prayer and bible study. I've got to know these wonderful ladies over the last four years whilst I have been worshipping at Christ Church and, I hope, they invite me back again!!

The photo is rather blurred but shows Elsie and Jean.

closing evening prayer..

I give myself, dear Lord, into thy keeping - Look down on me with sheltering love, I pray;  Thou who are ever watchful, never sleeping - Guard me until I greet another day.
